CleaNatura

Nothing is lost. Everything is transformed.

The Renewals Science.

Cleanatura is the industrial subsidiary of the Agriatlas group. Its mission: to completely depollute countries, one after another, by transforming waste into energy resources and raw materials — thanks to an entirely unprecedented economic model.

The problem

Every week, every human being ingests the equivalent of a credit card in the form of microplastics. Illegal landfills are methane climate bombs. Only 9% of plastics produced worldwide are actually recycled.

Incineration, the dominant solution in Europe, produces dioxins, furans, mercury, and lead. It is not a solution — it is a displacement of the problem.

Despite the scale of the challenge, no private actor has yet considered the pollution of a country as a whole. Cleanatura is the first to do so.

The solution — Waste is worth money

A simple idea. A systemic effect.
Cleanatura buys every kilo of waste from residents at a price higher than the local market — approximately three times the price usually practiced. At this price, citizens spontaneously become collectors. Fishermen. Local residents. The unemployed. They collect, sort, and deliver.
Without communication campaigns. Without legal constraints. Without public subsidies. Through the market mechanism alone.
Waste is worth money. It is no longer thrown away.

The technology

  • Pyrolysis under proven license:
transformation of non-recyclable plastics into pyrolysis oil (biofuel)
  • Mechanical recycling:
PET, HDPE, PP transformed into flakes and granules for industry
  • Processing of tires, textiles, metals, aluminum, and tin cans
  • 29 decentralized compaction centers and 440 collection points to cover the entire Uruguayan territory

Ultimately, a Cleanatura plant generates local energy autonomy (~3.5% of Uruguay’s oil consumption), high-value carbon credits, and a direct socio-economic impact on the most vulnerable populations.

Key figures — Uruguay

  • 256,000 tonnes of plastic produced in Uruguay in 2024, of which 88% end up in illegal landfills or in nature
  • 203,000 tonnes of untreated plastic waste, a captive market with no competition to date
  • The zero illegal waste law, passed in 2023, comes into force in 2026 — creating a guaranteed regulatory market
  • Target annual net ROI: 10% from the 3rd year. Net IRR of 10% at 10 years, 11.33% at 15 years

The human impact

By purchasing material by the kilo and at a good price, Cleanatura directly provides an income that allows every citizen collector to rise to the average national economic level. The unemployed, people seeking additional income, fishermen, cartoneros — all find a lucrative and dignified activity in this system.
Cleanatura does not break a social system. It strengthens the social pact and protects what exists.
